An excerpt from this article is in the Easter 2021 issue of Lubbsy Magazine.

It took years for Noah to build the ark. Once he’d finished and filled it with animals, God told Noah to wait 7 days for the floodwaters to come. How long must those 7 days have felt like after all those years of building?

From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
Matthew 16:21 (KJV)

Jesus told his disciples that he would be left to die on a cross but that he would rise from the dead again after 3 days. They’d followed him for 3 years and seen him raise a man from the dead after 4 days, but those 3 days must have felt like forever!

When something you have been hoping for gets close, the final days can be the worst and it is so tempting to just give up. That’s when we need the support of others. We’ve lost perspective and need reminding of the truth of the situation. We need encouragement to keep us going.

As the local church in Lubbesthorpe, we can be the “ark” where people can come for peace and stability when everything around them is discouraging.

Ultimately, that encouragement can only come from Jesus. Our job in the church is just to point people to him. The way we do that is by being filled with the Holy Spirit, and following what the Spirit tells us to do. That will involve us being stable too, not wavering and not doubting what God has told us to do.

And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Hebrews‬ ‭10:24-25 (KJV)

It is a huge team effort and that is why God created the church, and it is why we believe God has called us to start a church in Lubbesthorpe.

Have a Happy Easter, be stable and stay blessed.
